HTC Evo 3D

In the ever advancing Smartphone industry, it appears that 3D technology is one of the new must- have accessories. The HTC Evo 3D is the latest offering from HTC (expected release date September 2011). It will be joining LG’s Optimus 3D as one of Britain’s first glasses free 3D Smartphones, and inevitably comparisons will be made between the two phones.

More recently we have seen mobile phones becoming slimmer and more streamlined. Unfortunately, this is a trend which glasses-less 3D phones have trouble following. The HTC Evo 3D requires 2 cameras to allow for the 3D effect and this means that is it not particularly aesthetically pleasing to the modern consumer who is used to sleek, slender mobile phones. In fact, the HTC Evo 3D is 2 grams heavier than its LG rival.

The HTC Evo 3D has a dual-core 1.2GHz processor, making it slightly faster than the LG Optimus 3D (which has a dual-core 1GHz processor). Both phones have large 4.3inch screens which enhance the colourful and impressive picture quality. They also both have a 5 mega pixel camera, which can capture pictures and film in 3D. HTC have also added a toggle switch on the side of the phone, which allows users to switch easily and quickly between 2D and 3D mode. This is an improvement on the LG Optimus
3D, which requires users to close and relaunch in 3D in order to switch between styles.

To conclude, the HTC Evo 3D will join the LG Optimus 3D at the forefront of 3D technology. As such, many will be comparing it with its predecessor. It has many of the same impressive features, such as the vivid screen and high quality camera. However, it is the slightly speedier dual-core technology and the user-friendly touches such as the toggle switch between 2D and 3D which will prove it to be a worthy competitor to the LG Optimus 3D.
